The Rangers were able to drive the ball early but couldn’t quite get into the red zone, until TE Stephen Cupido caught a pass from QB Jamie Stafford to open the scoring. Ian Box secured the extra point with Tommy Kinloch holding.
The second quarter started with both sides unable to sustain long drives until the Crusaders broke off a long run and eventually found the end zone on a short pass. The Cru took the lead on a successful two point conversion to see out the half leading 8-7.
Into the second half and the Cru were able to score early extending the lead to 15-7. In the fourth quarter they solidified the win with another score to make it 21-7.
In the earlier game, the Bay City Buccaneers defeated the Monash Warriors 27-23.

Gridiron Australia, the governing body of American Football (Gridiron) has selected Melbourne to host the 2010 Senior National Championship Tournament, to be held at the State Netball/Hockey Centre in Parkville on April 10-16, 2010. This will be the first time Melbourne has hosted the event.
UPDATED: The Victoria Eagles will play the following games:
Saturday April 10th vs ACT @ 1pm
Wednesday April 14th vs Queensland @ 3pm
Competing in the tournament will be six state teams from across Australia: Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, and the ACT. New South Wales, the four-time defending champion, will look to protect its’ title again against all comers. This tournament has particular importance to the Victorian side, as Victoria has played NSW in each of the last three Grand Finals, only to come up short each time. This year however, Victoria will have home field advantage.
