Junior Rangers in Week 4 Action

Another mixed weekend for the Croydon Rangers as the Junior and Women’s seasons continue to head in different directions.

The Ranger ladies crossed Melbourne Saturday night to take on the newest kid on the block, the Melton Wolves under lights.

The home team has been building towards their first season for more than 12 months and would prove a formidable host against the undefeated Rangers.

Undeterred, Croydon quickly stamped their authority on the game as Bliss Love crossed for the first touchdown of the game. Quarterback Vanessa Roman would heed inspiration from Head Coach Jamie Stafford and keep the football for the 2 point conversion.

Soon after, running back Tanya Russell would motor 40 yards for another touchdown and a solid 14-0 lead heading to the main break.

Melton would respond quickly in the 3rd quarter, adding a pair of touchdowns to shave the deficit to only 2 points 14-12 Croydon at 3/4 time.

2016 Week 3 Juniors & Women’s Mixed Results

Ranger women move to 2-0

A mixed result for the Croydon Rangers in round 3 Gridiron Victoria action last weekend.

The Under 19’s squad, fresh from a pair of solid performances compiling a draw and victory the first two weeks went up against the reigning champion Melbourne Uni.

A see-sawing struggle approached half time with only a score in it before Quarterback Tom Veale completed a deep pass to Callum Thompson for the touchdown. The Rangers completed the scoring play one man short on the field and went to the main break trailing 6-8.

An avalanche of injuries ravaged Croydon in the 3rd term as Melbourne Uni took advantage and started piling on the score. Such was the extent of the injuries that Conor Merrigan Turner played both ways all day and even saw offensive lineman Ben Guscott at defensive back.

The young Rangers couldn’t keep up, falling to the champs 44-6 to sit on the cusp of the playoffs at 1-1-1.

Junior Rangers march to big win

Juniors roll to 36-14 win in week 2

Opening weekend at home proved triumphant for the Croydon Rangers as both teams celebrated emphatic victories.

The Junior Rangers notched their first win of the season in commanding fashion, 36-14 over the Northern Raiders.

In a complete team performance Croydon flew out of the blocks early to build a big lead that was never threatened.

Croydon Rangers Gridiron Club Registration Day 2016

The Croydon Rangers 2016 Senior Season Registration Day will be held on the 27th February, starting at 11am. The registration day will be held at Ranger Field, which is on Springfield Avenue in Croydon.

Come along to meet the coaches, and find out everything you want or need to know about playing gridiron for the reigning senior Division 1 State Champions.

The information session will be followed by a Q&A where any questions you still have will be answered. You will also get the opportunity to speak one on one with the coaches. Following this, the Club will be facilitating registration of new and returning players alike.

And to get an even better idea of how this great Club operates, the Rangers are hosting a double header of matches on the day, with the Juniors kicking off at 10am, and the women’s team playing at 2pm. Stick around and watch some great quality junior and women’s football, with both our teams vying for spots in the 2016 finals series.
