Opening Weekend 2018

Saturday, the 10th was the starting point of the season for both the Colts and Women’s teams from The Croydon Rangers. The day started off at 10:30 with the Croydon Ranger Colts playing against the Monash Warriors. The Warriors quickly took the lead and ended the first half 22 – 0.

The Rangers put up a good fight in the second half but were unable to break the Warriors lead, with the game ending 24 – 0.

The Croydon Rangers Women’s team started out strong with Running Back, Tanya Russell running the ball nearly to the end zone after the Wolves’ kick off. Russell then received an 18-yd pass from Quarterback Kira Duroux, for a Touchdown in the first series of the game.

Bliss Love followed up quickly with a 36-yd Touchdown shortly after, and Russell gaining her second Touchdown in the 2nd Quarter. Tight End Alicia Thorp had an outstanding game. She gained air for a spectacular pass, caught one singled handed, and also scored a Touchdown. At the end of the first half the Croydon Rangers were leading 36-0.

In the third quarter Bliss Love continued her streak by running 51-yds downfield for a touchdown. Thorp received a second Touchdown Pass from Duroux, increasing the score to 42-0. The Wolves’ offense didn’t give up though and received their first touchdown of the game in the 4th quarter.

Receiver Rachel Cribb answered back with another TD for the Rangers. Love then sealed the Ranger’s fate with additional TD, ending the game 54-14.

Flag Football starting October 20

NOTE: 2017 Flag Football will be run at Griff Hunt Reserve on Lyons Road in Croydon North due to maintenance being performed on Ranger Field

A nine-week action-packed Flag Football program is coming to Croydon, commencing on Friday 20th October at 6pm. The program will teach the fundamental skills of American football in passing, catching and running the ball, as well the basic scheming and teamwork that drives American Football – all in a non-contact environment. The program will culminate in the Grand Final under lights on Friday 15th December. The total price of this program is just $75 (plus booking fee) with no additional uniform, equipment of match costs required.

Rangers young sensation James Dall commits to US Junior College

It is with great pride that the Jetmaster Heat & Glo Croydon Rangers can announce that the Stuart Thompson Landscapes Colts team captain James “Speedy” Dall has signed his intention to commit to the Junior College, Garden City “Broncbusters”, based in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Rangers James Dall has committed to Junior College as a Wide Receiver

James has been picked up as a Wide Receiver but is hoping to offer more than just his ability to catch when he lands in June. James has played as a Cornerback, Kicker, Punter and even Quarterback at Colts level, and Wide Receiver and Kicker/ Punter in the Gridiron Victoria Senior competition.

James was one of three Croydon Rangers to participate in the 2016 state trip to Singapore, where he was praised by State Head Coach Robert Smith. James is one of three Australian teenagers that have targeted by the college. Garden City has a solid football program and a reputation for nurturing players that graduate to NCAA College programs, and even have NFL players among their alumni.

2017 Croydon Rangers AGM

The Croydon Rangers are pleased to invite all members to the Club’s 2017 AGM, to be held immediately following the Thursday night training session (women and junior pre-season training) in the Springfield Pavilion club rooms.

Date: 12th Jan 2017
Time: 8:30pm
Location: Springfield Pavilion (Club Rooms)

All positions on the executive committee (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) as well as the general committee will be vacated and open for nominations through the Club Secretary (Ash Mays). All nominations must be received, in writing and completed on the attached form, at least 48 hours prior to the event.
