Article updated

After a promising start to the match the Rangers junior team could not hold on against a fast finishing Warriors team going down 28-20 on Sunday.

The sun was shinning down at Endeavour Hills on Sunday but as normal the wind was up, both teams got off to sloppy starts with turn overs being the theme in the first half.

The Warriors scored first take on early 6-0 lead over the Rangers in the 1st quarter but the Rangers answered back in the 2nd quarter thanks to a long run from running back Liam Robb both teams could not convert their touchdowns and it was 6-6 going into half time.

The Rangers started the 2nd half with a safety thanks to Jesse Peters rushing up the middle on a Warriors punt and blocked the punt with such strength the ball went out the back of the end zone for the safety giving the Rangers a 8-6 lead.

On the next possession the Rangers got their passing game going when quaterback Tom Veale hit rookie receiver Jourdan Stamatakos down the side line for a touchdown.  Veale and Stamatakos were at it again soon after hooking up again for another touchdown making it 20-6 but the Rangers had not converted any of their touchdowns leaving points on the field.

The Warriors really started to find their grove after two Rangers where ejected from the game under the new NCAA targeting rule, the Warriors went on a scoring run with the next three touchdowns one thanks to a strip sack on the Rangers quarterback which put the Warriors up 20-28 which was also the final score.

The Rangers will need to work on playing out a full game during the week as they get ready for their next opponent the Western Crusaders at Ranger Field 3:30pm kick off.
