The Rangers celebrated their first home game of the season and coach Mark Fairweather’s 50th win by defeating the reigning Vic Bowl champion Warriors 12-6 under lights in front of a big local crowd.
Running back Kit Ng rushed 20 yards for a score and Stephen Cupido caught a 10 yard pass from QB Jamie Stafford to put the home team in front, a lead they never relinquished.
The defense stood strong with two goal line stands including two straight stands from the one yard line as the Warriors looked almost certain to step into the end zone.
The final quarter saw the offense eat up nearly10 minutes with a 70 yard drive from their own 5, eventually coming undone with one of the more bizarre penalties in Ranger history. The defense held strong for one last drive that ultimately came up short as the Rangers celebrated their first win against the Warriors since 2004.
A very special thanks to our guest of honour, Victorian MP Shaun Leane who tossed the coin pre-match, to our tireless staff in the canteen, the sideline support staff and of course, the home town crowd that turned out to support the team.
The Rangers defeated the Bay City Buccaneers 6-0 in difficult conditions Sunday morning for their second win of the season, and second straight shut out.

On a muddy track and with rain falling, the game was deadlocked nil all through out until the Ranger defense got it done on the scoreboard.
As the Buccs went to punt, Richie Garraway blocked the kick and DE James Arthur dived on the loose ball for a touchdown and the lone score of the day.
It was than a nervous wait as the clock ran down and the Buccs headed past mid field towards the red zone. Again, the defense stood tall and the Rangers held on for a very tough win.

In trying conditions they flew out of the gates early with two trips to the red zone before finally scoring a TD in the opening quarter.
With a commanding lead 25-0 at half time the Rangers continued to press with two more scores in the second half.
Running back Kit Ng finished with four TDs, including two long runs from scrimmage to the end zone, whilst QB Jamie Stafford threw a long TD pass to Josh Gibbs for 66 yards. Jordon Beck celebrated a big day out in his rookie senior year with several decisive carries culminating in a big touchdown early in the 4th quarter. Congratulations also to Kirk Dalziell and Matty Pitt who caught their first passes in a Ranger jersey.
