Ash Hopkinson named MVP

Ash Hopkinson backed up his leauge MVP award by taking out the Rangers team MVP award last Saturday at the Croydon Rangers junior presentation night.
Tailback and Safety Ash Hopkinson had a fantastic season on both offence and defence. Quarterback Callum Dunsford won the offensive MVP thanks to his stellar season under centre. Middle linebacker Flynn Jarvis took out the defensive MVP after he lead the Rangers in tackles, Jarvis was a sideline to sideline player, who could make plays anywhere on the park.

Croydon to host the 2005 Semi Finals

The Croydon Rangers will host the 2005 Semi Finals on the 27th of August. The games will be 1st vs 4th at 2:00pm and 2nd vs 3rd at 10:30am at Springfield Reserve, Cnr. Mt Dandenong Rd and Springfield Ave. The Rangers will feature in the semi finals which game is yet to be decided.
Australia finished 4th at the World Games

The Australian Outback played the host team Germany in its first game of the 2005 World Games. Germany the European Champions out classed the Australina team running out 31 – 0 winners. This loss now meant the Outback would now play off for the bronze medal against France who lost to Sweden in their first game. The Ouback fought hard against France but wend down 14 -0. The Rangers would like to congratulate Rangers, Tom Kinloch, Steve Churchill and Tim Davies on making the Australian team and taking part in the 2005 World Games.
Rangers are off to Germany

The Australian Outback will be heading to Duisdury, Germany on the 10th of July to take part in the 2005 World Games. Tom Kinloch, Steve Churchill and Tim Davies will be representing the Croydon Rangers in this team. The Outback’s first game will be against the host team Germany on the 15th of July then depending on the result they will then play either Sweden or France on the 17th of July. The Australian Outback will play a warm up game in Sydney against New Zealand on the 9th of July.

The Croydon Rangers would like to pass on their congratulations to Heath and Melissa Morrison on the birth of their first child Georgia Isabelle Morrison born on the 8th of April 2004 at a healthy 8 pound 10 ounces, both Mum and baby are doing well.
Victoria are runners up in the National Championships

The Victorian Eagles finished runners up in the 2005 National Championships in Adelaide last weekend when they lost to NSW in the final 13-14.
Victoria defeated Queensland in its first pool match 62-0, Steve Churchill of the Rangers was the game MVP, he rushed for 111 yards on 22 carries and had two touchdowns.
In Victoria’s second game the championships they took on the NSW Wolfpack who they also defeated by the margin 14-0. Rangers centre Craig Judy was named MVP.
In the Final Victoria once again took on NSW this time Victoria lost by the margin of 13-14.
The Croydon Rangers would like to congratulate all Victorians involved in the state program on a great result.
2005 Annual General Meeting

2005 Gridiron Australia National Championships

GA have announced that the 2005 National Championships will be contested by five states, NSW, QLD, SA, WA and of course Victoria between the 6th and 12th of March at the Distinctive Homes Hockey Arena in Adelaide.
The Victorian Eagles will play two prelimiary games against Queensland on the 6th of March and the NSW Wolfpack on the 10th of March, the finals will be played on the 12th of March.
The Victorian Eagles will be lead for former Rangers head coach Brendon Bowe and will once again we well represented by Rangers players in the touring squad. The Croydon Rangers would like to wish Brendon, the Rangers players all everyone involved in the Victorian Eagles side the best of luck for the 2005 National Championship.
It’s a Boy!
The Croydon Rangers would like to pass on their congratulations to Steve and Danea Roberts on the birth of their first child Liam Brodie Roberts born on the 9th of June 2004, both Mum and baby are going well.
Annual General Meeting
The Croydon Rangers elected its 2004 committee on the 28th of March at the AGM. Kevin Collins was elected as the clubs President. Heath Morrison was elected as the Vice President, Aaron Collins as the Treasurer and Peter Davies as the clubs Secretary. The 2004 general committee is made up by Tim Davies, Richard Garraway, Steve Churchill, Mark Doyle, Steve Roberts and Brendon Bowe.
Victorian Eagles def. WA Raiders
During the Labour Day weekend in March the Victorian Eagles travelled to Perth to take on the Western Australian Raiders in an interstate battle as a part of the Victorian’s state program towards 2005 National Championships.
The Victorian Eagles won the interstate match up by the score line of 28 to 19. Rangers quarterback Mark Ursu made a touchdown pass in the win as well as a number of 2pt conversions and Rangers running back Steve Churchill also scored a touchdown in the win.
Eleven Croydon Rangers were a part of the Victorian travelling squad to Perth namely Aaron Collins, Steve Churchill, Tim Davies, Craig Fransico, Richard Garraway, Jarrod Hornbuckle, Craig Judy, Tom Kinloch, Brett Mason, Justin Rosemalin and Mark Ursu.
The players were not the only Rangers involved, Rangers head coach Brendon Bowe is the Eagles Offensive Coordinator.
This was the second of two games that the Victorian Eagles have played in the last month, the Eagles also had a match again the NZ Haka, which was played in February at Town Park in Croydon.
The Croydon Rangers would like to congratulate all the Rangers involved as well as all the other Victorian representatives.
